“Into The Veil” and ” Anamorphic” series are a collection of photographs capturing moments of my performances and journey embodying the veil into action. By recording these performances my body turns into a crucial site for exploration and the subject of aesthetic exposition. It is in this process that I experimented with the reflection of the veiled subject as a way to create a new vision in order to embody new sensations and feelings. A composition/ritual that inevitably creates a piece of art – a photograph – a moment in time for one to reflect upon. As a performing artist I chose to work with my body as a primary resource while exploring the female body in its historical context, questioning its traditions, heritage and position in today’s society. My interest in this exploration of these performances is the concept of sacred feminine power, body/identity, tradition/religion, freedom/escapism/sexuality, performed into a pictorial space - a live painting.
